October 13 is World Vision Day, with the theme of "Love Your Eyes" - love your eyes.
According to the data released by the World Health Organization, about 37 million people worldwide suffer from visual impairment or blindness, and 124 million people suffer from poor vision.
Ophthalmologists remind us that eye health problems need to be paid attention to at different ages. Eye health examination should not be ignored at any age and good eye use habits should be developed.
Neonates should pay attention to retinopathy and congenital cataract of premature infants
Neonatal period is a sensitive period for visual development. Parents should screen the fundus in time one month after birth to exclude congenital diseases, especially infants with family history of eye diseases, light weight or premature delivery.
Attention to strabismus and amblyopia in children aged 3-6 years
Childhood is the multiple stage of strabismus and amblyopia, and also the best stage of treatment. Children with strabismus are easy to combine with amblyopia, and amblyopia children usually have no special symptoms, most of which are found through inspection.
There are four main symptoms of squint and amblyopia: always close one eye, tilt one's head or turn one's head to see things; There is a double image when looking at things; When the mind is not concentrated, one eye will be found to be involuntarily inclined inwards or outwards; The two eyes obviously cannot focus together.
Experts suggest that children aged 3-5 should go to the ophthalmology department or child health care department of a regular hospital for visual screening at least once. If parents find that children have the above symptoms, they should take them for vision screening as soon as possible.
Teenagers should pay attention to myopia
According to the data from the National Health Commission, the incidence rate of myopia among adolescents in China is growing at an annual rate of 8%. The myopia rate of junior high school students has reached 70%, and that of senior high school students has reached 85%.
Once myopia is irreversible, parents can supervise their children to do more outdoor sports and less electronic products, so that their eyes can have a full rest and at the same time, they can carry out appropriate medical intervention.
If the child frequently rubs, blinks, squints and looks at things, he/she should go to a regular hospital for mydriasis optometry in time to distinguish between true myopia and pseudomyopia, and take corresponding treatment measures.
Attention to dry eye in young adults
The eye development of adults is basically completed. Long time use of computers and mobile phones in work and life can easily lead to dry eyes, often accompanied by dry eyes, red eyes, eye pain and other symptoms.
In case of the above problems, try to reduce the use frequency of electronic products and increase the number of blinks; When working with computers, look into the distance every 30 minutes to adjust the eyes; If the degree of dry eye is serious, you can drop artificial tears or go to the hospital for dry eye treatment.
Attention of the middle-aged and elderly
Presbyopia, cataract, age-related macular degeneration
After the age of 40, the adjustment function of the eyes drops and presbyopia may occur. Presbyopia is the natural degradation of human functions. When presbyopia occurs, it should be corrected in time.
Cataract is an aging phenomenon of the eye lens. If the eye is compared to a camera, the lens is the lens, and a cataract is equivalent to the "lens" of the eye. With the development of medical technology, if the cataract affects the quality of daily life of patients, it can be resolved through surgery.
Compared with cataracts, the elderly should pay more attention to age-related macular degeneration, and it is recommended that such patients have fundus examinations every six months or one year. People with diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia should actively control blood sugar, blood pressure and blood lipids to reduce eye complications.
The macula, an important structure of the retina, is located at the posterior pole of the eyeball. Light from external objects enters the eyeball and projects into the central concave of the macula area, which can form a clear image. Once the macular area is diseased, there will be decreased vision, black shadow in front of the eyes, visual distortion or abnormal color vision.
